Hudfjerning, the Shedding Skin

A long broken-backed seax in the style of the British Isles, this blade was a new venture. The theme of shedding skin was used throughout to symbolize personal growth into something new. Forged from 5160 steel with a walnut grip, this blade is based on the historical seax of Beagnoth dredged from the Rive Thames. The inscription is different, but the dimensions of the blade itself are an excact replica of the original Saxon weapon. Its simple walnut grip is also accurate to an original seax. The forge blackening and hammer marks on the blade were left intentionally to augment the overall theme of something new emerging from its coarse older skin. Serpent scales stamped into the sheath and grip continue this motif. The weapon’s name is engraved in Elder Futhark runes along the blade. Sold.
